Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Pack My Own Goods Or Do I Have To Use Your Packing Service?
You can absolutely pack your own goods, however, we’ll always recommend using our packing service as our team are vastly experienced with packing house moves and identifying additional packing needs for fragile goods to keep them safe.
We recommend consulting your move manager if you choose to pack yourself for tips, tricks and guidance on how to pack your move properly.
When Does Packing Take Place?
Before we start packing your move, first, we’ll have somebody survey your property so we can properly assess how long it’ll take us to pack all of your goods for your scheduled moving date.
For most 3 bedroom properties, packing will usually take a full working day and will be done the day before your scheduled move. If we deem the goods to take longer than a full working day to pack, we’ll factor this in and may start packing 2 days before your scheduled move.
During busy periods, there are occasions where packing may take place a couple of days before you actually move.
Rest assured, however. All dates included in your scheduled move with Soldiers On The Move will be communicated with you by your move manager so you can get ready for your move with confidence.
Do You Bring Your Own Materials?
Yes. If you choose Soldiers On The Move for your move, we’ll bring our own protective materials to ensure that all goods that are being transported with us are protected adequately and to a high standard. We hold your possessions in high regards and pride ourselves on customer satisfaction.
We’ll also happily supply quality, sturdy boxes to ensure your goods are safe and secure, including television and wardrobe boxes as well as any additional packing materials for high value goods.
Do I Have to Pay For Boxes / Packing Supplies?
If you choose Soldiers On The Move’s packing service and are happy to proceed, all costs are covered and will be factored into your moving cost.
Do Soldiers On The Move Unpack My Goods?
Yes. We do offer additional unpacking / assembly services at an additional cost. If this is something you’d like us to do, let us know.
What Happens with Boxes and Materials After My Move?
That’s up to you! You can either keep hold of our supplied boxes, or we can collect them to be recycled. Of course, this is location dependent, as we may not be able to travel long distance to collect boxes.
What Packing Preparation Do I Have To Do?
For advice on packing preparation, please discuss this with your move manager as we have free resources, tips and additional bits of wisdom we can share with you to make your move as streamlined and comfortable as humanly possible.
It’s always a good idea to set essentials to one side, such as driving licenses, car keys, passports, medication, hygiene products and more. We always advise you to put important moving documents to one side too, should you need them.
Moving is also a great time to get rid of any goods you won’t be bringing with you. Any excess clothing, shoes or goods you simply don’t need anymore will be wholeheartedly welcomed by local charities and will minimize the quantity of goods that need to be moved!
How Long Does Packing Usually Take?
This is a very common question, however, you can rest easy knowing that we’ll always factor in enough working hours to comfortably and safely pack all your goods that need to be moved, and will always factor in the size of the move to avoid any last minute surprises.
Typically, on average, a 3 bedroom property pack will usually take a full day.
